Salisbury Steak

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1/2 tablespoon A-1 sauce

1 tablespoon ketchup

1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs

1 egg

2 tablespoons oil (for cooking)

For the Gravy:

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons flour

2 cups beef broth (Better than Bouillon recommended)

1 cup sliced onions

1 teaspoon browning sauce

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions:

Prepare the Patties:

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, minced garlic, salt, pepper, A-1 sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, and egg. Mix well and shape into 4 patties.

Cook the Patties:

Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3 minutes on each side, or until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Make the Gravy:

Remove excess grease from the pan and reduce heat to medium-low. Melt butter in the same pan, then add onions and cook for 4-5 minutes.

Stir in flour and cook for about 2 minutes. Gradually add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, browning sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir well and scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.

Once the gravy starts to simmer, return the patties to the pan. Bring to a simmer again, then reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and cook for approximately 20 minutes, flipping once. Uncover and let the gravy thicken for 5 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.

Enjoy your homemade Salisbury steak with rich, flavorful gravy!
